Barrett Ready for New Jersey Motorsports Park's Inaugural Grand-Am Rolex Event

Los Osos, Ca - August 28, 2008 - Patrick Barrett returns to competition in the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 this coming weekend, August 29-31 at the newly constructed New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, New Jersey. The 2 ¾ hour Super Car Life 250 will be run on the 2.25 mile, 14 turn Thunderbolt road course recently built on the site of a former World War II fighter plane training base.

You can see the race live on SPEED Channel from 10 AM to 1 PM Pacific, 1-4 PM Eastern on Sunday August 31st.

Barrett and PR1 Motorsports co-driver Canadian Mike Forest will share the #32 Miracle Sealants/Konica Minolta/Kolliner-Long Gallery Pontiac GXP.R in the GT class on the new Thunderbolt circuit. The pair will attempt to rebound from their bad luck at Mid Ohio in June when Forest was taken out by a spinning GT car just as the rain started to fall on lap 7 while he was running eighth. They hope to top their 10th place finish at Virginia International Raceway in April, the rookie team's best result so far this season.

"I'm really excited about racing on the new track this weekend. I feel it will be a great opportunity for all of us at PR1 Motorsports to come away with a great result. All of the teams and drivers should be on a level playing field since the track is so new, so it will come down to whoever gets up to speed and figures out a good strategy the soonest," said Barrett.

Barrett from Los Osos, California will reach two milestones this weekend. He will celebrate his nineteenth birthday on Saturday and will compete in his 60th auto race on Sunday. In 2007, he raced in England as a member of the Team USA Scholarship program, and won the 2007 Pacific F2000 Championship and is its all time race win record holder.

"I want to thank my personal sponsors Kolliner-Long Gallery based in Cambria, California and Alpinestars for their tremendous support. Without them, I wouldn't be where I am today doing what I love."

PR1's road racing car is a rear wheel drive Pontiac (G6) GXP.R with a tubular space-frame steel chassis and carbon-fiber and steel body which is home to a 6.0L LS2 V-8 that produces 450 brake horsepower and is mated to a 5-speed manual sequential gearbox.
