Barrett to Compete in Pacific F2000 Finale in Las Vegas
Los Osos, California 10/12/06
2006 Formula Russell Champion Pat Barrett will compete in the final two races
of the Pacific F2000 Championship Series this weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada at the
Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Barrett previously participated in his first two Pacific
F2000 races with Team GFRO in September at Infineon Raceway, located north of
San Francisco. He went on to win both days, leading Team GFRO to its first ever
one-two finish on Saturday.
Participating in this weekend's Pacific F2000
event left the 17 year old from Los Osos, California with a difficult decision.
Barrett originally planned to take part in the Ron Sutton's Winner's Circle
Shoot-Out scheduled for October 13-15 in Sacramento but opted instead for the
opportunity to participate in the Formula Ford 2000 Zetec race this weekend.
"This was a very difficult decision for me to make but I feel that the opportunity
to race again with Team GFRO this weekend was really important. I want to carry the
momentum that I've built up in the car over the past two months into this weekend
and on to the 2007 season."
Barrett currently sits 4th in the Summer Cup
points standings, only 19 points behind current leader Chris Spreitzer. "Thanks
to my two wins at Infineon Raceway in September, I'm within reach of the Summer
Cup title," Says Barrett.

"This will be my first time racing on the road
course at Last Vegas Motor Speedway, which I understand is a very technical layout.
I'm looking forward to a good finish.
"I would like to thank Geoff Fickling
for giving me the opportunity this weekend. We worked extremely well together in our
outings at Infineon Raceway and at Road America in Wisconsin last month."
